LYFTALABS RETURNS, REFUNDS & EXCHANGES POLICY
Last updated: 11 August 2026
Thank you for shopping with LyftaLabs™.
We want our returns process to be fair while protecting our customers and our business. This Returns, Refunds & Exchanges Policy applies to purchases made from the LyftaLabs online store and must be read together with our Terms of Service.
Nothing in this Policy is intended to limit, exclude or waive any right that a consumer has under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (“CPA”), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (“ECT Act”), or any other applicable South African law.
Where there is any conflict between this Policy and a mandatory provision of South African law, the applicable law will prevail.
1. ONLINE PURCHASE COOLING-OFF PERIOD
Where section 44 of the ECT Act applies to your transaction, you may cancel your purchase without providing a reason and without penalty within 7 days after receiving the goods.
If you exercise this statutory cooling-off right:
- you must notify LyftaLabs of your cancellation within the applicable 7-day period;
- the goods must be returned to LyftaLabs;
- you will be responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods, as permitted by law; and
- LyftaLabs will refund the payment due in accordance with the time period required by applicable law.
This statutory right applies only where provided for by the ECT Act and is subject to any exclusions contained in that Act.
2. CHANGE-OF-MIND RETURNS OUTSIDE STATUTORY RIGHTS
Except where the CPA, ECT Act or another law gives you a right to return the product, LyftaLabs does not offer returns or refunds solely because you changed your mind after the applicable statutory return or cooling-off period has expired.
Examples include:
- deciding you no longer want the product;
- purchasing the wrong colour;
- deciding you prefer another product;
- finding a similar product elsewhere at a lower price;
- deciding that the resistance level is too light or too heavy when the product supplied corresponds with its advertised specifications; or
- no longer having a use for the product.
LyftaLabs may, entirely at its discretion, agree to an exchange or return outside your statutory rights. Any such accommodation on one occasion does not create an obligation for LyftaLabs to do so in future.
3. DEFECTIVE, UNSAFE OR POOR-QUALITY PRODUCTS
LyftaLabs products are subject to the implied warranty of quality provided for in sections 55 and 56 of the CPA.
If, within 1 months after delivery, a product genuinely fails to comply with the requirements of the CPA because it is defective, unsafe, not reasonably suitable for its ordinary intended purpose, or otherwise fails to meet the applicable statutory standard, you may have the right to return it.
Where section 56 of the CPA applies, the remedies available to the consumer will be those provided by the CPA, including repair, replacement or refund as applicable.
LyftaLabs will carry the reasonable cost and risk of returning goods where required by law.
A product will not automatically be regarded as defective merely because:
- it has suffered normal wear and tear;
- resistance has changed due to normal ageing or prolonged use;
- it has been damaged through incorrect use;
- it has been overstretched beyond its intended use;
- it has been cut, punctured, torn or damaged by sharp surfaces or objects;
- it has been exposed to excessive heat, chemicals, oils or inappropriate cleaning products;
- it has been stored incorrectly;
- it has been altered, modified or repaired by the customer or another person;
- it has been used contrary to supplied instructions or warnings;
- damage occurred because of improper attachment or anchoring;
- the customer's preferred resistance differs from the resistance ordered;
- the customer used the product for an application for which it was not designed; or
- the problem results from accident, misuse, abuse or neglect rather than a defect existing in the product.
Nothing in this section removes any rights you may have under the CPA.
4. RESISTANCE BANDS AND NORMAL WEAR
Resistance bands are exercise products which are repeatedly stretched and placed under load. Their condition and lifespan depend significantly on frequency of use, exercise technique, storage, environmental conditions and whether they are used in accordance with the supplied instructions.
Gradual cosmetic wear, surface marking or deterioration resulting from ordinary use does not necessarily constitute a manufacturing defect.
Customers must inspect resistance bands before each use and immediately discontinue use if a band displays significant cracking, tearing, cuts or other damage that may make continued use unsafe.
5. INCORRECT OR INCOMPLETE ORDERS
If LyftaLabs sends you:
- the wrong product;
- the wrong colour or variation;
- an incomplete set; or
- a materially different product from the product you ordered,
please notify us as soon as reasonably possible.
Where LyftaLabs is responsible for the error, we will provide the remedy required under applicable South African law and will bear return or replacement delivery costs where required.
6. PRODUCTS DAMAGED DURING DELIVERY
Please inspect your order as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
If your parcel or product appears to have been damaged during transport, please contact us promptly.
Where possible, please provide:
- your order number;
- photographs of the shipping packaging;
- photographs or video showing the damage; and
- a short explanation of the problem.
Photographic or video evidence assists us in processing courier and product claims more quickly but will not be used to unlawfully deny a consumer a statutory right.
Please retain the damaged product, accessories and original packaging until the claim has been resolved.
7. RETURN CONDITION AND PACKAGING
Where goods are returned under circumstances governed by section 20 of the CPA, any deduction or charge relating to use, consumption, deterioration, packaging or restoration will only be imposed to the extent permitted by the CPA.
Customers should, where reasonably possible:
- return all components originally supplied;
- include accessories and instructional material;
- package the goods securely to prevent additional damage; and
- retain proof that the parcel was sent.
If the return arises merely from a discretionary return approved by LyftaLabs rather than a statutory right, LyftaLabs may require the goods to be unused, complete, undamaged and in their original packaging as a condition of accepting that discretionary return.
8. HYGIENE AND USED PRODUCTS
Our ankle cuffs are wearable fitness products that come into direct contact with the body.
For discretionary returns that are not required by law, LyftaLabs reserves the right to refuse products that have been extensively worn, soiled, contaminated, washed, damaged or returned in a condition unsuitable for resale.
This provision does not exclude a return, refund, repair, replacement or other remedy where South African law requires LyftaLabs to provide one.
9. PROOF OF PURCHASE
Customers requesting a return should provide sufficient information for us to identify the transaction, such as:
- order number;
- purchaser's name;
- email address used to place the order; or
- other reasonable proof of purchase.
A request will not be rejected merely because the customer cannot produce a printed receipt where the transaction can reasonably be verified from our records.
10. RETURN AUTHORISATION
Before sending a product back, please contact:
Email: LyftaLabs@gmail.com
Include your:
- full name;
- order number;
- reason for the return; and
- photographs or video where the return concerns damage or an alleged defect, where reasonably available.
We will provide the appropriate return instructions and return address.
Customers should not send returns to an address shown on a courier parcel or packaging unless LyftaLabs has confirmed that it is the correct returns address.
Sending goods to an incorrect or unauthorised address may delay the processing of the return.
11. RETURN SHIPPING
Return shipping responsibility depends on the reason and legal basis for the return.
Cooling-off / change-of-mind return
Where section 44 of the ECT Act applies, the customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods as permitted by law.
Defective or non-compliant products
Where goods are lawfully returned under section 56 of the CPA because they do not comply with the statutory standards, LyftaLabs will bear the return risk and expense as required by law.
LyftaLabs fulfilment error
Where the wrong or materially incorrect goods were supplied due to an error by LyftaLabs, LyftaLabs will arrange or reimburse reasonable return delivery costs where required.
12. RETURN SHIPPING RISK
Where the consumer is responsible for arranging the return shipment, we strongly recommend using a courier service that provides tracking and proof of delivery.
LyftaLabs cannot be responsible for parcels lost by a courier selected and controlled by the customer, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
Where LyftaLabs is legally responsible for the risk and cost of return, this paragraph does not transfer that statutory risk to the consumer.
13. INSPECTION OF RETURNED PRODUCTS
Where reasonably necessary, LyftaLabs may inspect a returned product to:
- confirm the reported defect;
- determine the cause of damage;
- verify that all components have been returned; and
- determine which statutory or contractual remedy applies.
Inspection does not remove or limit any remedy that the consumer is legally entitled to receive.
Where a product alleged to be defective is found, after reasonable assessment, not to contain the alleged defect and the problem was caused by misuse, damage or another circumstance for which LyftaLabs is not legally responsible, LyftaLabs reserves its rights under applicable law.
14. REFUNDS
Approved refunds will ordinarily be made using the original payment method where reasonably possible.
Processing periods imposed by banks, payment gateways or card providers after LyftaLabs has issued the refund are outside LyftaLabs' direct control.
Where the ECT Act or CPA requires a refund within a particular statutory period, LyftaLabs will comply with that requirement.
Refunds will not be issued as store credit instead of money where the consumer is legally entitled to a monetary refund and has not voluntarily agreed to store credit.
15. PROMOTIONAL AND DISCOUNTED PRODUCTS
Buying a product on sale, promotion or with a discount code does not remove statutory rights relating to defective or non-compliant goods.
However, a customer is not entitled to claim that a product is defective merely because its price was reduced after the customer's purchase.
Where goods were expressly sold with a particular disclosed defect or in a particular condition and the consumer expressly agreed to accept them in that condition, the consumer's rights will be determined in accordance with the CPA.
16. BUNDLES AND SETS
The LyftaLabs™ Ankle Cuff & Resistance Band Set is sold as a product set.
Where a discretionary return of an entire set has been approved, all components supplied as part of the set must ordinarily be returned unless LyftaLabs agrees otherwise.
This may include:
- both ankle cuffs;
- all resistance bands;
- storage or travel pouch;
- accessories; and
- other items supplied as part of the purchased package.
Where only one component is defective, LyftaLabs may assess the affected component and the consumer's remedy will remain subject to the CPA and other applicable law.
17. GIFTS, FREE ITEMS AND PROMOTIONAL BONUSES
Where a free product, gift or promotional item was supplied only because a qualifying purchase was made, LyftaLabs may require the promotional item to be returned when the entire qualifying purchase is voluntarily returned, provided doing so does not unlawfully reduce a statutory refund or remedy.
18. REFUSED AND UNCOLLECTED DELIVERIES
Customers are responsible for providing accurate delivery information and making reasonable arrangements to receive their orders.
Where an order is returned because:
- an incorrect address was supplied by the customer;
- delivery was repeatedly refused without lawful reason;
- the customer could not be contacted after reasonable delivery attempts; or
- the parcel was not collected from an agreed collection point,
LyftaLabs may recover reasonable additional delivery or return costs to the extent permitted by law.
This section does not apply where delivery failed because of an error attributable to LyftaLabs or its delivery provider in circumstances where the law places responsibility on LyftaLabs.
19. EXERCISE PRODUCT SAFETY
Resistance training involves inherent physical risks.
Customers must use LyftaLabs products only for their intended purpose and in accordance with the instructions and safety information provided.
Before each use, customers should inspect the bands, cuffs, attachment points, clips and stitching for signs of damage or excessive wear.
Do not use a damaged product.
Do not stretch resistance bands beyond their safe intended range or attach them to unstable, sharp or unsuitable anchor points.
Customers are responsible for exercising with appropriate technique and within their own physical capabilities.
Nothing in this Policy excludes or limits any liability that LyftaLabs is prohibited from excluding or limiting under the Consumer Protection Act or any other applicable South African law.
20. ABUSE OR FRAUDULENT RETURN CLAIMS
LyftaLabs reserves the right to investigate suspected fraudulent, dishonest or abusive return activity, including:
- intentionally damaging a product;
- returning a different product;
- submitting falsified evidence;
- falsely claiming that a parcel was not delivered;
- repeatedly abusing discretionary return arrangements; or
- attempting to obtain both a refund and retain the goods.
Where reasonably justified, LyftaLabs may refuse a claim that is fraudulent or is not supported by a statutory or contractual right, and may take appropriate lawful action.
Nothing in this section permits LyftaLabs to refuse a legitimate claim under the CPA, ECT Act or other applicable law.
21. CHARGEBACKS AND DISPUTES
We encourage customers to contact LyftaLabs first so that we have a reasonable opportunity to investigate and resolve any issue.
Submitting a fraudulent or deliberately false payment dispute does not create a right to a refund.
LyftaLabs reserves the right to provide transaction records, delivery confirmation, correspondence and other relevant evidence to banks, payment processors and other dispute-resolution providers where necessary and lawful.
22. CONSUMER RIGHTS
Nothing contained in this Returns Policy:
- requires a consumer to waive a right granted by the CPA;
- limits LyftaLabs' obligations where doing so is prohibited by law;
- excludes liability for gross negligence where such exclusion is prohibited;
- removes the statutory implied warranty of quality; or
- prevents a consumer from approaching an appropriate consumer protection body where legally entitled to do so.
.
23. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
LyftaLabs may update this Returns, Refunds & Exchanges Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our operations or applicable law.
The policy applicable to an order will be interpreted together with the consumer rights and legislation applicable to that transaction.
